J.S. Rawson, M.D.
Dr. Rawson was born in Starkville and grew up in Meridian. Dr. Rawson finished his undergraduate degree at Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS, and his Medical Doctorate at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, MS. Dr. Rawson founded our clinic and began his practice in Columbus, MS in 1985. Dr. Rawson has served many roles in the community, hospital, and church organizations. Most notably, he has served as Past President of the Lowndes County Medical Society, the Mississippi GI Society, and the Physicians Alliance of Northeast Mississippi, is a current member of the Prairie Medical Society, and has served as a Deacon and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, USA, in Columbus.
Dr. Rawson has served on several committees at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle over the years, and maintains active privileges there and at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, Ms. Dr. Rawson also presented a resolution to the Mississippi State Medical Association which ultimately became “Patient Protection Act,” which protects patients from receiving trivial denials of healthcare claims by their insurance companies.
Dr. Rawson and his wife, Julie, have three children and live in Columbus, and they love to spend their time off in Florida with their two grandchildren. Dr. Rawson loves to hunt, and has even been to Africa to hunt big game on occasion.
